Pigtails
Pigtails are fibre-optic cables (usually a 900 £gm buffered fibre)
at one end with a connector. They are spliced onto multi-fibre
loose-tube cables within cable termination boxes and distribution
frames. The connector end is either then connected to a patch
panel or directly to the transmission equipment.
Patch Cord
Fibre-optic cables equipped with connectors at both ends are
called patch cables. They are mainly used as connections between
cable termination boxes and transmission equipment or as jumper
cables, in Simplex and Duplex versions.
